Charles Stewart, Itasca County Independent, 18 March 1909
"The angel of death enters the Stewart home. Charles Stewart, age 73 years, a resident of this village for the past five years, quietly and peacefully passed to the great beyond Tuesday morning March 9th, at three o'clock. Death was due to paralysis and bronchitis. He had seemingly been enjoying his usual health till a week prior to his death at which time he was stricken with paralysis. Tho he was cared for by a faithful and loving wife and other devoted members of the family as well as sympathetic friends, death was inevitable and the frail bond was broken, his spirit taking its flight to that home prepared for those who have faith in their Maker."
Chas. Stewart was born Dec. 9, 1835, at Park Corners, New London county, Prince Edwards Island. He came to Minnesota in 1869. In 1871 he was united in marriage to Miss Isabel Wilcox at Little Falls. Four children were born of this union, three of whom are living. They are: Fred Stewart of Hankinson, N. D., Bert and Mamie Stewart of Hill City.
In the death of this townsman, the community has lost a kind neighbor, and an industrious and upright citizen while his family has lost a thoughtful husband and loving father. Those who came to know him were impressed with his gentle manners and his Christian character. Altho his residence was not taken up in this village till he had almost reached his 'three score and ten' he made many warm friends in this short time. To his widow and family who will yearn for 'the touch of the vanished hand and the sound of the voice that is still' the friends and neighbors express their sincere sympathy in this hour of bereavement and bid them be strong to bear the burden of sorrow thus allotted them resting with the assurance that 'blessed be they that die in Christ.
